Platform · Tactical rostering

See the day. Position by position.

Bring sector demand, the published roster and controller qualifications into the daily position plan. Allocate positions, review coverage and adjust assignments as the operation changes.

Setup

Set demand and allocation intervals.

Sector opening

Choose the sector opening. It defines the positions that need cover.

Time interval

Work in 15-, 30- or 60-minute intervals. Each must fit within the position’s maximum duration.

Preferred allocation

Save a position pattern for each shift type and staffing row. Apply it again when you need it.

Allocate positions and review the result.

Manual allocation

Place an assignment directly. Pin or lock it when it needs to stay in place.

Allocate Preferred

Fill an interval or the day using the selected preferred allocation. A tactical template defines the pattern for later allocation; selecting it alone does not fill positions.

Solve and check

Use the tactical solver to search for assignments. Check Solution evaluates the current grid without changing it; Clear Solution removes assignments in the selected interval.

Save the plan

Save to keep your changes. Closing the workbench without saving discards them.

Operational oversight

Review coverage by controller, position and sector.

Resource View

See staff, qualifications and assignments together.

Position View

See which positions are covered and where gaps remain.

Occupancy View

Compare working, unused, present and total staff across sectors.

Summary View

Review saved hours by qualification and working position.

The rules behind each position.

Tactical rules cover minimum and maximum time on position, rest before assignment, qualification currency, allocation preferences and distribution of position time. Units can also define unwanted sequences of working positions.

Day and night threshold settings express how staffing shortfalls are evaluated, as a percentage or headcount. These settings support planning; they do not authorise staffing below operational or regulatory requirements. The responsible team must review any shortfall.

Training allocation

Include trainees and support staff.

An instructor’s position can carry a trainee or a support employee with the matching qualification status. Allocate Trainees and Support copies eligible position assignments to the attached staff.

For competency worked-time calculations, an instructor sharing a slot receives 50% of its duration; the trainee or support employee receives 100%. An instructor working alone receives 100%. Confirm that this accounting matches your currency policy.
