Platform · Strategic rostering

A month of shifts. A plan you can shape.

Build monthly rosters around staffing demand, controller qualifications and working-time rules. Review assignments, make adjustments and decide when to publish.

Planning workflow

Build a roster for review and publication.

1 · Define demand

Set who you need, when you need them and which qualifications they must hold. Use a fixed sequence, weekday demand or a repeating shift pattern, with minimum and maximum staffing levels.

2 · Build the draft

Plan individuals or whole teams. Use a rotation or assign shifts day by day. Let the solver build the draft, place assignments yourself, or combine both. Required positions and optional capacity stay in view.

3 · Review the result

Run Check Solution to review applicable rule violations and unassigned shifts without changing the draft. Adjust assignments or configuration and recheck.

4 · Publish and continue

Publish the approved draft for staff to see. Then use it as the starting point for the next period.

Choose the roster structure for your unit.

Rotation and flexible shifts

Reuse a pattern across multi-day blocks. When it becomes a monthly roster, flexible slots turn into specific shifts using your configured priorities.

Individual, team and on-call rosters

Allocate individual employees or whole teams. Team rosters can be converted to individual assignments. Preventive rosters support a separate on-call pool.

Publication controls

Manage changes to the published roster.

The plan keeps moving after publication. Approved leave, duty, swaps and work requests update the roster. A work request adds a shift; revoking it reverses that change.

Override

Applies a correction without changing the version number.

Minor

Increases the version number by one.

Major

Advances to the next multiple of ten. A unit can require head-of-unit approval for this publication type.

Plan instructor and trainee assignments.

Pair trainees or support employees with an instructor’s shift. Eligibility checks and a configurable trainee cap support the planner’s decision. Trainees and support employees cannot share the same instructor shift, and locked assignments are preserved.

Review and scope

Review feasibility and coverage before publication.

Separate solves can produce different assignments and scores. The engine returns the best result found within the configured search budget; feasibility depends on demand, staffing and active rules. Evaluate performance with representative roster data.

Shift history records previous states, version and time, with a reason where available. Access is part of Audit & History. Current history limitations include concurrent updates, deletion and reason coverage.

Your organisation remains responsible for selecting applicable policy limits and approving the roster. See how the engine works and ATC rostering requirements.
