Planning, operational supervision and HR use a shared record of duties and changes. Review each stage in the operational-day workflow.
One night shift · 18:00 → 07:00
One night. All connected.
The plan changes. The night goes on. Follow a control-centre team from evening handover to morning, then see how the shift carries through to payroll preparation.
18:00 · Handover
Start on the same page
The evening supervisor reviews planned assignments, expected traffic and any changes since publication. The incoming team has access to the same published roster.
21:50 · Sector demand
The traffic changes. So does demand.
Two sectors are scheduled to combine as demand falls. The supervisor reviews the sector opening plan and checks the working-position assignments for the next part of the shift.
23:40 · A sick call
A call changes the plan
A controller reports an absence before a planned duty. The supervisor reviews available staff, contacts a potential replacement and follows the unit’s authorisation process.
02:05 · Working positions
Confirm the qualification for the position
The replacement arrives and the supervisor confirms the position assignment. Relevant endorsements and validity dates are reviewed against the staff record.
04:15 · Breaks and recovery
Look beyond this shift
The supervisor checks planned breaks against current coverage. A change to tonight’s duty also prompts a review of the affected controller’s next assignment and required recovery period.
06:45 · Morning handover
Hand over the current roster
The morning team checks its assignments and the overnight changes. Staff can view published duties and request status through the mobile app.
Month end · Attendance and payroll
Bring the records together
HR reviews the absence, replacement duty and recorded attendance before preparing payroll. Any outstanding timesheet issues are resolved through the approval process.
Follow the shift through to payroll preparation.
